The Housing Project is the main line of the organization, a long 34 years it has benefited the poorest families of the Coast Region, allocating 118,000 houses.

In 2005 Hogar de Cristo allocated 11,757 houses to families in extreme poverty conditions which make us the main builder of popular houses in the country.

The area of the houses are 4,8 m. x 4,8m = 23.52 square meters. The raw material to build these houses is: bamboo and wood, which are autochthonous. They have very low cost and are ideal for the tropical weather of the Ecuadorian coast region. This Housing Program is based on a self-construction system of pre-fabricated modules. Houses are financed until 3 years non interest credit.

There is privilege for families with more children and/or less incomes. Giving a house is not the main objective of Hogar de Cristo, but through it we can promote the Integral Development of Families and Communities. (DIF/DIC) and generate a Social Change.

“If there is a real necessity, no one who come to Hogar de Cristo, will go without a House, even if it can not be afforded”
